About Pay After Rent

A small, independent site about what is left of a paycheck after rent.

Pay After Rent is written and maintained by James J. I am not a financial planner, tax preparer or real estate agent. I built it because most rent advice stops at a percentage, and the question people actually ask is what will be left at the end of the month.

The numbers come from public government data (HUD, USDA, BLS, IRS and SSA), and every page links its sources. The site is supported by ads. No landlord or lender pays for placement, and nothing here is financial or tax advice.

Found an error or an outdated number? Corrections are welcome.

Estimates for planning, not financial or tax advice. Rents are HUD Fair Market Rents (a typical, not a specific, unit), and other costs are government averages. Your own costs will differ.
